The 2026 National Fulbe Australia Conference is more than an event. It is a celebration of identity, heritage, and community, bringing together Fulbe people from across the nation for Australia’s largest gathering of Fulani communities.

Passing the Torch: Celebrating and Preserving Fulbe Heritage in Australia

From 2-3 October 2026, hundreds of delegates, families, community leaders, professionals, and young people will gather in Adelaide for the 2026 Annual Conference & Cultural Dinner, hosted by Fullah Friends of South Australia in partnership with Fulbe Australia Inc.. The two-day event is expected to attract more than 400 attendees each day, with participants travelling from every Australian state and territory.

This year’s theme,“Passing the Torch: Celebrating and Preserving Fulbe Heritage in Australia,” highlights the importance of connecting generations, preserving cultural traditions, and ensuring that Fulbe identity continues to thrive within Australia’s multicultural society.

A Weekend of Culture, Connection and Celebration

The conference begins on Friday, 2 October 2026, at the Fullarton Park Community Centre in Adelaide, featuring presentations, discussions, and networking opportunities focused on community development, education, leadership, and cultural preservation.

The celebrations continue on Saturday, 3 October, with a national soccer tournament bringing together teams and supporters from across the country. The weekend culminates with the Gala Dinner and Cultural Night, an evening dedicated to recognising community achievements while showcasing the rich traditions of the Fulbe people through cultural performances, music, storytelling, and traditional attire.

Strengthening a National Community

Since its establishment in 2012, Fulbe Australia Inc. has served as the national peak body representing Fulani communities across Australia. The annual conference has grown into a significant national gathering that strengthens relationships between communities, promotes cultural pride, and creates opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing among current and future generations.

As Australia’s Fulbe community continues to grow and contribute to the nation’s diverse social fabric, the 2026 conference provides a valuable opportunity to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and invest in the future.
